Measuring for blinds
First things first...
Measure like the professionals do. Always use a metal measuring tape. A dressmaker’s tape or ruler will not give you an accurate enough measurement to ensure your blinds will fit correctly. Measure in millimetres.
You will next need to decide where you want your blinds will be mounted. You can choose between mounting your blinds on the inside or outside of your window reveal.
If you decide to inside mount your blinds, make sure you have enough room for them to operate properly. Look out for handles, tiles and other obstructions that may hinder the operation of your blind. Make sure you have enough architrave depth to comfortable house the blinds inside.
When choosing inside mount blinds, remember there will always be a small gap at the sides of the blind where allowance have been made for brackets, controls, chains and the like.
Start by measuring the width of the opening in three places, the top middle bottom and record the smallest measurements.
Now repeat the process for the height, measuring at the left, middle and right hand side of the window and record the smallest measurement.
Please provide these OPENING MEASUREMNETS as Artessa will make the necessary allowances for brackets, control, chain and the like.
Should you choose to outside mount you blinds, you will need to decide just how far past the window opening you wish your blinds to finish. Usually outside mount blinds are measured between the outside edges of the architrave, however you can decide if you would like more coverage.
Start by measuring the width and if fitting to the architrave, again measure in three places top, middle and bottom. For outside mount blinds record the largest measurement.
Now repeat the process for the height, measuring at the left, middle and right hand side of the window and record the largest measurement.
Where outside mount measurements are provided, Artessa will not make any deductions to the measurements provided.
Should you require the fabric of your blinds to be a particular size please consult your Artessa representative for advice.
